SECURE64 INTRODUCES INDUSTRY’S FIRST DNS SERVER THAT PROTECTS NETWORK BANDWIDTH DURING DNS-BASED DENIAL-OF-SERVICE ATTACKS

DNS Authority incorporates PipeProtector™ technology to block attack traffic at upstream routers

Greenwood Village, CO – March 4, 2014 — Secure64®, the leading provider of secure, self-protecting DNS server software, today announced a new release of its DNS Authority product that adds additional protection for both the DNS nameserver and the upstream network against high bandwidth, DNS denial-of-service attacks.

This new version of DNS Authority monitors the incoming and outgoing bandwidth consumed per client and detects clients that are conducting volume-based denial-of-service attacks. Traffic from these abusive clients can be automatically blocked in order to protect the DNS server. In addition, by incorporating Secure64’s unique PipeProtector™ technology, DNS Authority becomes the industry’s first and only authoritative DNS server software that communicates with upstream routers in order to protect the network itself.

The latest version of software allows service providers to:

• Reduce the time and cost required to defend against attacks
• Ensure the availability of server and network resources
• Protect customers from downtime
“DNS-based denial-of-service attacks are increasing in frequency and size,” said Joe Gersch, COO of Secure64, “and the larger attacks can exceed the available network capacity of many communication service providers. Under these attack conditions, many service providers can no longer afford to defend against the attacks using traditional manual methods. The new detection capabilities coupled with PipeProtector give service providers a fast, reliable way to combat these attacks before they can cause damage to either the DNS server or the network.”

This new version of DNS Authority will be available in Q2 2014.
