Enhanced DNS Performance & Energy Efficiency with HPE, AMD & Secure64
AMD, Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) and Secure64 Software Corporation, have jointly released a new paper titled: Enhanced Performance and Energy Efficiency of Secure64® DNS Cache on HPE ProLiant DL325 Gen11 Servers with 5th Gen AMD EPYC™ 9555 Processors.
Secure64 collaborated with HPE and AMD to test the performance of its caching DNS solution by optimizing the performance and energy saving features of the latest servers. In these tests, Secure64 software achieved significant performance gains over a BIND solution running on the same environment and over previous generations of servers.
Most internet traffic results in a 95% hit (or cached response) ratio, which has an over 6X performance improvement with Secure64.

As shown in the graph, Secure64 Cache DNS on HPE ProLiant DL325 Gen11 Servers with AMD EPYC 9555 5th Generation Processors & Red Hat provide significant improvement in performance over BIND DNS at any cache hit ratio. This ensures significant headroom to respond to DDoS attacks, flash crowds, network configuration errors, and future proofs for additional security and real time reporting requirements while saving power.
The Domain Name System (DNS) is the foundation of today’s digital landscape, but its ubiquity also means it is a part of the growing energy footprint of servers and data centers across the globe. Secure64 DNS solutions, when combined with AMD EPYC™ processors and HPE ProLiant Gen11 servers, enable outstanding energy efficiency per server while at the same time delivering a 6X improvement in performance at predominant DNS characteristics of 95% cache hits with a mix of IPV6/IPV4 traffic.
Secure64 is a leading provider of carrier-grade secure DNS solutions, offering, high-performance and secure DNS server software, DDoS protection, malware and fraud protection, DNS tunnelling protection and content filtering. Secure64 software can run on bare metal, virtual or on containers.
AMD EPYC™ processors are known for their high performance, scalability, and advanced security features, making them an ideal platform for demanding workloads. For telcos and operators of large networks the exceptional performance of the DNS combined with power savings is significant and compelling at a time when power grids, power costs and server workloads are facing significant challenges.
“DNS is the most vital protocol on the Internet. No DNS = No Internet. Our customers demand high performance with energy cost savings. Utilizing HPE, AMD, and Secure64 allows performance improvements, energy savings, and a highly secure DNS solution,” says Ian Sampson, Chief Revenue Officer of Secure64.
